THE ROLE
Meteorite is seeking an inspiring leader to help build and lead our Climate & Health Initiative, a new pillar of the Health Action Alliance. This position will report to the Executive Director of the Health Action Alliance.
The ideal candidate is a visionary communications leader who is a self-starter with a passion for health, equity, and a thorough understanding of environment, health, and safety (EHS) in the workplace. Ideally, this candidate has business experience with a lens on employee risk mitigation, and experience developing and communicating employee programming. This candidate should understand the employer perspective and be able to engage the corporate community in actions to mitigate health impacts related to climate change on their employees, suppliers, and communities.
The Director needs to be able to build and lead a strategy for impact, program manage and implement the day-to-day needs of the dynamic and multifaceted initiative, and engage and support clients, participating companies and stakeholders.
This candidate will be the face of this program and a thought leader who will be the key driver of helping companies understand how the health risks of climate change impact their workforce and inspire action to protect employee health.
The successful candidate will:
Program Strategy and Operations
- Lead landscape analysis, research, and engagement with thought partners in the field to inform and continuously refine the program strategy.
- Develop the roadmap, key objectives and results for engaging businesses in mitigating the health risks of climate change.
- Create and maintain project-wide tracking of tasks, deliverables, and timelines, including updates to project materials and decks as needed.
- Manage a small team of internal shared services colleagues, including writers and graphic designers, and external consultants as needed.
- Lead weekly internal program management calls.
- Lead calls with sponsors, partners, and participating companies.
- Proactively solicit feedback from participating companies and advise them on their own relevant efforts.
- Collaborate with program partners to design and execute original research including surveys, financial impact analyses, and individual employer interviews.
- Organize and host virtual events to support employers' understanding of and engagement in this important topic.
- Organize and host in-person meetings with key stakeholders to drive engagement and impact.
- Identify opportunities to integrate and collaborate with the broader Health Action Alliance strategy, programming, and communications.
- Collect baseline metrics, research, and feedback from companies to measure and track progress and inform the future work of the initiative.
- Provide regular reports back on engagement, activities, feedback, and recommendations, as well as campaign impact metrics.
Communications & Content Strategy
- Oversee day-to-day communications with team, clients, partners, participating companies, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Create newsletters, blogs, op-eds, toolkits and other content necessary to encourage businesses to take action on this issue.
- Develop strategic planning of any external communications outlets, messaging plans, and other activation frameworks to generate attention and interest.
- Coordinate and operationalize communications and programming for all audiences, including resources and calls to action.
- Advise on the technical and editorial maintenance of relevant program websites.
YOUR MINDSET AND EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of communications experience in human resources, EHS, worker health, or social responsibility.
- Excellent managerial and organizational abilities with a proven track record leading diverse, high-performing communications teams.
- An inspiring coach and leader who is committed to building an energetic, supportive and deeply collaborative workplace culture, who can also be the public face of the initiative.
- A storyteller with exceptional writing and speaking skills, including demonstrated experience writing for and presenting to clients and partners at all levels and settings including conferences, media and other external communication opportunities.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for producing polished presentations, insightful reports, and thoughtful plans.
- Experience synthesizing and presenting complex information, including familiarity with leveraging data such as public health metrics, social issue data, and related information.
- A creative thinker and problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- A deeply curious learner, always looking to grow and stay current with the topics most important to our firm and our clients.
- A willingness to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership and an ability to coordinate the efforts of various teams in order to present a coherent message.

WE OFFER
- The salary range for this position is $140,000 - 165,000, commensurate with experience level and geographic location.
- Bonus eligible starting in 2023.
